Privacy Notice

Effective 1 September 2026

This notice explains how Squeeza, operating in South Africa, collects and uses personal information. It is designed around the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Information we collect

We collect account details such as your name, username, email address or phone number, password hash and eligibility attestations; profile information you choose to add; posts, comments, reactions, follows, blocks and reports; and limited technical and security information needed to operate and protect the service. Posts or comments marked anonymous are hidden from other members, but remain linked to your account for safety and moderation.

Why we use it

We use information to create and secure accounts, provide community features, enforce our rules, investigate reports, prevent abuse, communicate service messages, comply with law and improve reliability. We do not sell personal information.

Privacy-friendly website analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits, page views, referral sources, device types, countries and website performance. This analytics service does not use cookies, local storage or cross-site tracking, and is not intended to identify individual visitors. Cloudflare processes the limited technical measurements needed to provide these reports.

Who receives it

Information may be processed by contracted hosting, database, email, security and support providers acting for Squeeza. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect a person from serious harm, or to investigate unlawful activity. Public profile content is visible according to the product’s privacy controls.

International processing

Some service providers may process information outside South Africa. We will use contracts and other safeguards required by POPIA before making cross-border transfers.

Retention and security

We keep information according to our published Retention Schedule, subject to legal holds and lawful exceptions. Account deletion removes active account content and identifiers, subject to limited legal, fraud-prevention, backup and moderation records that must be retained. We use access controls, encryption in transit and operational safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can access an export, correct your profile, object to certain processing, request correction or deletion, and delete your account from Privacy & data settings. We may verify your identity and may decline or limit a request where the law permits or requires retention.
